On Friday 29 October, Bindi by Kirli Saunders and Dub Leffler won the 2021 Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Award in the Eight to 10 Years category.
This is the fourth award that Kirli’s junior fiction verse novel has won, making it our most awarded title from 2020.
Bindi was created by an all First Nations team, with Kirli's gentle story led by Publisher Rachel Bin Salleh, editing by Grace Lucas-Pennington, and gorgeous illustrations by Dub Leffler.
The Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards aim to promote children’s books as literacy tools, as well as raising awareness of the role speech pathologists play in helping children develop language and literacy skills.
