Congratulations to Daniel Browning for his book Close to the Subject: Selected Works being shortlisted in the Indigenous Writing category in the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards 2024. 
 
Daniel Browning is a Bundjalung and Kullilli journalist, radio broadcaster, documentary maker, sound artist and writer who has been working in the arts and media world for almost three decades.  
 
Close to the Subject: Selected Works presents a collection of pieces ranging from interviews, critical essays, poetry, play script and demonstrates Browning’s talent as an Australian cultural critic and public intellectual. 

We’d also like to congratulate Carl Merrison and Hakea Hustler for their title Dirrarn being highly commended in the Indigenous Writing category.
