We are thrilled to announce that Magabala Books has been nominated for the 2027 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.

Created in 2022 by the Swedish government to promote every child's right to great stories, the Astrid Lindgren Memorial award is a global award presented annually to a person or organisation for their outstanding contribution to children’s and young adult literature. With a prize of five million Swedish kronor, it is the largest award of its kind. Above all else, it highlights the importance of reading, today and for future generations.

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is administered by the Swedish Arts Council and the laureates are chosen by a twelve-member expert jury.

A total of 277 candidates from 80 countries and regions have been nominated for the 2027 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. The list includes authors and illustrators, as well as storytellers and reading promoters.

The laureate will be announced on 6 April 2027.

Thank you to the twelve-member expert jury, the Swedish Arts Council and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial team.
