'My Father’s Shadow' by Jannali Jones launched to rave reviews

Sat, Sep 07, 2019

Emerging Australian writer Jannali Jones officially launched her debut Young Adult novel, My Father’s Shadow, in a session today at the Blak & Bright Festival in Melbourne with Festival Director Jane Harrison.

My Father’s Shadow is based on the manuscript for which Jannali won the black&write Indigenous Writing Fellowship in 2015. Jannali has crafted a thrilling story which keeps you on the edge right to the end and has been received with rave reviews.

“Jones’s debut is a fast-paced, gripping read that keeps you turning the pages with expectation. With each revelation, new questions appear and as the story unfolds it still holds surprises right until its conclusion… I can’t recommend this book highly enough and I can’t wait to see what Jones produces next.” Jess Gately, Underground Writers Blog

“My Father’s Shadow combines a cracking pace, a sense of imminent danger and Kaya’s mixed feelings about her emerging attraction to Eric, all the while keeping you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.” Marie Alafaci, Magpies Magazine

The book was also launched at Gleebooks in Sydney by well-known Young Adult reviewer Joy Lawn in August.
