Two Magabala titles make CBCA Book of the Year Shortlist

Congratulations to Magabala authors, Carl Merrison, Hakea Hustler and Siena Stubbs, whose books, Black Cockatoo (illustrated by Dub Leffler) and Our Birds: Ŋilimurruŋgu Wäyin Malanynha, have been announced as shortlisted titles in the Children's Book Council of Australia's (CBCA) 2019 Book of the Year Awards.

Regarded as Australia’s most prestigious children’s literature award, the CBCA Book of the Year is presented in six categories: Older Readers, Younger Readers, Early Childhood, Picture Books, Eve Pownall Award and CBCA Award for New Illustrator (formerly Crichton Award). Black Cockatoo is shortlisted for the Younger Readers category and Our Birds is shortlisted for the Eve Pownall Award for Information Books. The 2019 shortlisted titles were chosen from a record 488 entries and include well-known authors such as Alison Lester and Shaun Tan.
