'Young Dark Emu' shortlisted for Indie Book Awards

Thu, Jan 16, 2020

Congratulations to Bruce Pascoe! Young Dark Emu has been shortlisted alongside a stellar line-up of titles for the Children's category of the 2020 Indie Book Awards

An adaptation of the award-winning bestseller Dark Emu, Young Dark Emu invites young readers to consider a different version of Australia's history pre-colonisation.

Selected by Australian Independent Booksellers, the Indie Book Awards recognise and celebrate indie booksellers as key supporters of Australian authors.

"What makes our Indies uniquely placed to judge and recommend the best Aussie books of the past year to their customers and readers, is their incredible passion and knowledge, their contribution to the cultural diversity of the Australian reading public by recommending books beyond the big brands, and their love of quality writing." - Indie Book Awards.

Of the shortlisting Bruce Pascoe said:

"Our independent booksellers work tirelessly to champion the work of Australian writers and illustrators and so it means a lot to me that Young Dark Emu has been shortlisted by these very booksellers, at the heart of our industry".

The winning books will be announced 23 March 2020.
