Miles Franklin Award winner, Alexis Wright is a member of the Waanyi nation of the southern highlands of the Gulf of Carpentaria. A writer, researcher, and social commentator, she has been widely published in magazines and journals. She worked for many years on campaigns for Aboriginal land rights, Indigenous self-government and constitutional change in the Northern Territory. Wright has been writer-in-residence for the Central Land Council. She holds the position of Distinguished Research Fellow at the University of Western Sydney where she is developing new literary works, a series of lectures, and literary collaborations.
