Jack Davis

Jack Davis (deceased) was one of Australia's most well-known Indigenous poets and playwrights. He was born in Perth and spent his early years in the dairying and timber mill district of Yarloop in the south west of WA. He was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to his people in 1976. He was also honoured with an Order of Australia and honorary doctorates from Murdoch University and the University of WA in Perth.

Author, actor and activist, Jack Davis's works included the collection of poetry For Freedom's Sake, and his memoirs A Boy's Life.
