Monty Walgar

Monty Walgar (deceased) was born in 1944 on Bryo Station in the Murchison region of Western Australia, where his father was a stockman. When he was four, his father died leaving his mother to support ten children by herself. The Native Welfare Department forced the family to go to Mullewa Reserve where the children could be schooled but, due to overcrowding, they were moved to Mogumber settlement. Monty and his younger brother were taken from their mother and sent to the Tardun Mission. Mony's first language was Wajarri. Cloud Shabalah assisted Monty to record his story. The resulting book is Jinangga, this book is no longer in print.
