Stephen Muecke began researching Aboriginal storytelling in the mid-1970s documenting the songline that runs northwards from Broome with Paddy Roe of the Goolarabooloo people of Broome. He has always been fascinated by the relationship between stories and the country, about changing ideas to do with Australia and the contribution of Aboriginal cultures to Australian nationhood. Stephen works in the School of Media and the Arts at the University of New South Wales and is currently embarking on a project with the custodians of the Lurujarri Dreaming Trail running from Broome to James Price Point (Walmadany) in the West Kimberley.
