‘Brother Moon’ shortlisted for the Environment Award for Children’s Literature

Tue, Jul 13, 2021

Magabala Books is proud to announce that Brother Moon by Maree McCarthy Yoelu and Samantha Fry has been shortlisted for the Picture Fiction award in the Wilderness Society Environment Award for Children’s Literature.

Every year the Wilderness Society shortlists a host of children’s nature books, showcasing some of the best writers and illustrators working to promote a love of the natural world in kids.

‘It’s such an honour to be shortlisted in the 2021 Environment Award for Children’s literature,’ said Maree. ‘Brother Moon shines a light on the important relationships our First Nations people have had with nature all along and it’s what I hope for all our children to acquire – a true connection with the natural world.’

Illustrator Samantha Fry said: ‘It’s wonderful to see Brother Moon shortlisted, it’s such a special and beautiful story that has touched a lot of people’s hearts, I think.’

Congratulations, Maree and Sam.
